Maksym Lavrynovych, Managing Partner of Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm, has won All-Ukrainian contest «Lawyer of the Year 2011» in the category «Lawyer, Representative of a Private Law Firm». The awards ceremony took place in Kyiv on October 6.
Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm provided consulting services to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine in 2011 in connection with the issue of foreign public debt bonds; supported listing of Industrial Milk Company’s shares on the Warsaw Stock Exchange; were engaged by White & Case international law firm as legal advisors in Ukrainian Law in the course of provision of government guarantees for obtaining a loan to implement the Air Express project, as well as during the obtainment by Eximbank of Korea of Ukrainian government guarantee in connection with extending a loan to the Southern Railways; secured invalidation of tax notification decisions in the amount of more than UAH 2 billion in favor of PJSC «ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih». The services provided by the Firm have been highly acclaimed in Ukraine and abroad: Lavrynovych & Partners has been named the Law Firm of the Year 2011 according to The DealMakers Law Award ratings within the banking law sector and has won the Ukrainian Legal Olympus award. This year, Maksym Lavrynovych was also recognized by International WHO’S WHO of Professionals, as well as «Ukraine’s Top-30 Most Successful Attorneys», «100 Best Lawyers», «Top-100 Business Leaders of Ukraine» and «25 Leading Lawyers of Ukraine» professional rankings.
The Lawyer of the Year contest is held by the Union of Lawyers of Ukraine with participation of the High Council of Justice of Ukraine, Supreme Court of Ukraine, Higher Commercial Court of Ukraine, Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine, General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ministry of Education of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, State Tax Administration of Ukraine, State Customs Service of Ukraine, higher legal education institutions, Union of Advocates of Ukraine, Ukrainian Notary Chamber and other professional and public associations of lawyers.
The composition of the contest’s Nomination Committee is annually approved by the Executive Committee of the Union of Lawyers of Ukraine. The Nomination Committee determines laureates and winners of the contest by secret voting. This year, legal professionals were nominated in 15 categories: «Judge», «Judge of the Commercial Court», «Judge of the Administrative Court», «Lawyer – Public Official», «Prosecutor», «Lawyer – Justice Agency Officer, «Lawyer – MIA (Ministry of Internal Affairs) Officer», «Lawyer – Tax Officer», «Diplomat – Lawyer», «Attorney», «Corporate Lawyer», «Notary», «Lawyer – Researcher», «Lawyer, Representative of a Private Law Firm» and «Student – Lawyer».
