Lavrynovych & Partners has acted on the debut offering of a US$500 million 5 year bond by Ukrainian Railway Transport Enterprises managed by Ukrzaliznytsia*. The deal was first non-guaranteed by Ukraine issue by the state enterprises and was well received in the international market. The bond was placed in the international capital markets pursuant to Regulation S and Rule 144A of the United States Securities Act of 1933 and structured as loan participated notes.

Firm’s Associate Partner Olena Zubchenko moderated a panel on the regulatory role of food safety at the Kyiv Post Conference “Protecting Ukraine’s Food Chain: Quantity, Quality and Safety”, organized in Kyiv on May 22, 2013.

The panelists also discussed the aspects of food enrichment – whose role is to decide whether food products are fortified with vitamins and minerals.

Firm’s Senior Associate Roman Blazhko and Associate Dmytro Savchuk lectured on “Tax appeals” and “State control in the area of taxation” at the seminar “Inspections of Businesses under new Criminal Procedural Code ”, organized on 23 April 2013 in Kyiv.

Roman focused on certain aspects of the tax appeal procedure, such as limitation periods established for bringing appeals, pros and cons of passing through administrative and judicial modes of challenging tax orders.
