The 18th International Competition Law Forum organized by the Swiss-based Institute of European and International Business Law at the University of St. Gallen has been held in Switzerland.

The event was attended by prominent lawyers from the UK, France, Sweden, Germany and Switzerland, managers of European law firms, and representatives of EU competition authorities. The sole Ukrainian representative was Managing Partner of Lavrynovych & Partners, Maksym Lavrynovych.

The forum was focused on matters relating to banking regulation in the context of competition law and cartel agreements.

The Institute of European and International Business Law at the University of St. Gallen was founded in 1963 as one of the first Institutes of European Law. Since then, it has firmly established itself as a leading research centre on international law.

Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm has won the 2010 Ukrainian Legal Olympus award for All-Round Legal Services.

The award was granted on the basis of an opinion issued by the independent Board of Experts following an analysis of the Firm’s positive growth dynamics, its position in specialized segments of the legal services market, its innovative approach and its staff potential.

A team of lawyers from Lavrynovych & Partners led by Partner Iryna Marushko will advise Winner Imports Ukraine, the official distributor of Porsche, Jaguar & Land Rover, Ford, and Volvo cars in Ukraine.

Winner Imports Ukraine was one of the first companies that began to operate in the Ukrainian car market as the official distributor of Ford Motor Co., and then Volvo Car Corporation, Porsche, Jaguar and Land Rover. The company now has a dealer network throughout Ukraine and covers an entire range of car products, from low-cost to premium cars.

Maksym Lavrynovych, Managing Partner at Lavrynovych & Partners, has taken an active part in a charitable auction organized by the British Embassy in Ukraine to mark World Down’s Syndrome Day.

A closed reception aimed at raising money to help children suffering from Down’s syndrome was held at the residence of British Ambassador Leigh Turner.

Auction lots included paintings by Ukrainian artists, jewelry, and personal autographed items donated by famous sportsmen.

The event helped to raise money for the first Ukrainian Early Development Center for Children Suffering from Down’s Syndrome. The Center runs special programs to aid children with genetic disorders throughout Ukraine.

During his visit to Panama, the head of Lavrynovych & Partners’ Chicago Office, Yuri Tkachenko, has had a series of meetings with local business representatives. They were focused on the development of multilateral cooperation on real estate projects and in the banking services market.

The business meetings resulted in a number of preliminary cooperation agreements, under which Lavrynovych & Partners will advise Panama-based companies on their business transactions.

Seeking to support and facilitate the development of legal professional media in Ukraine, Lavrynovych & Partners has become the official partner of the Yuridicheskaya Praktika Day organized by the legal weekly Yuridicheskaya Praktika to mark its 16th anniversary.

The weekly’s editorial staff has scheduled several events for practicing lawyers, including practical workshops and roundtables featuring leading Ukrainian lawyers and law firms.

Lawyers of Lavrynovych & Partners will advise Väderstad LLC, Europe’s largest agricultural machinery manufacturer. Väderstad LLC is a subsidiary of the Swiss-based namesake company that supplies soil tillage and seed drilling machinery to the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Australia, Russia and Ukraine.

Väderstad-VerkenAB is a family business founded by Rune and Siw Stark in Sweden in 1962. The family business has now grown into a large progressive company equipped with the latest technologies and having over 750 full-time employees.

Iryna Marushko, Partner at Lavrynovych & Partners, has participated in the 2nd Ukrainian Energy Forum.

Reports were made during the forum by energy experts from various countries and by representatives of government and regulatory authorities and state-run companies. Some exclusive energy investment projects of the Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Ministry were also presented at the event.

Managing Partner of Lavrynovych & Partners and Vice President of the Ukrainian Bar Association, Maksym Lavrynovych, has presented a report at the 7^th Annual Legal Forum held by the Ukrainian Bar Association.

The main focus of the Forum was the Ukrainian legal services market development in 2011. In particular, its first session was devoted to the influence of tax and judicial reforms on the legal business in general. During the first session, Maksym Lavrynovych shared his professional views on the subject and summed up the positive effects of judicial reform.

The event was traditionally attended by representatives of the national legal elite: attorneys, partners and managers of Ukrainian law firms. The Forum was also attended by lawyers from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The Ukrainian Bar Association is an all-Ukrainian non-governmental organization that unites representatives of the legal profession. Its main purpose is to promote the rule of law in various areas of state, public and social life and to facilitate the development of Ukraine as a law-governed state. The Association operates throughout the territory of Ukraine.

Under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the parties on 18 January 2011, Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm will be actively engaged to provide legal support for foreign investment projects coordinated by the State Agency of Ukraine for Investments and Management of National Projects.

Under the relevant agreements between the parties, the firm will provide legal assistance in the process of drafting necessary documents and otherwise dealing with matters that require particular attention in the context of the Agency’s tasks and functions.

The State Agency of Ukraine for Investments and Management of National Projects, known until June 2010 as the State Agency of Ukraine for Investments and Innovations, was set up in 2005. The Agency is the central executive authority overseeing investments and is coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Its primary task is to facilitate the implementation of strategically important projects involving technical upgrading and development of basic branches of the real sector of the national economy.
