The corporate media of Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm have been highly praised by the jury of the “Best Corporate Media of Ukraine 2012” contest. The Legal Monitor newspaper has taken the second position in the “Electronic Media” category. The Lp.ua website has also won in the category “For Modern Design, Convenient Navigation and High-Quality Content”.

The results of the contest held by the Corporate Media Association were announced on November 16 at the Business Forum “Innovative Marketing Communications. Trends of 2013”.

The Legal Monitor newspaper has been published since 2009. It is distributed in electronic format. The authors of the newspaper are Lavrynovych & Partners’ employees. New columns appeared after the newspaper was redesigned in 2011. The Lp.ua website has also been significantly revamped: since May 2012, the upgraded website has offered its users convenient navigation, detailed information about the Firm’s activities, information about vacancies, search by keywords for all materials, including publications and video. The website also has a feedback facility and a section for mass media representatives.

The “Best Corporate Media of Ukraine” contest has been held by the Corporate Media Association since 2007. The jury includes experts from leading publishing houses as well as reputable professionals in marketing, advertising, PR, and personnel management. The following categories were represented in 2012: corporate newspaper, magazine, annual report, electronic corporate publication, corporate movie, corporate book, corporate calendar, corporate digest, corporate newsletter, corporate website, corporate blog, corporate flash magazine, bank payment card, webpage on facebook.

Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm and Nibulon Agricultural Limited Liability Company have signed a legal servicing agreement. According to the agreement, Lavrynovych & Partners will represent the Client’s interests in the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine.

Nibulon Agricultural Limited Liability Company is Ukraine’s largest producer and exporter of agricultural products. The company was established in 1991. The agricultural company has forty units located in eleven Oblasts of Ukraine. Nibulon leases 80 thousand hectares of agricultural land. According to Forbes, Nibulon ranks 64th among the 200 largest companies of Ukraine. The company’s net profit in 2011 was estimated at UAH 63.3 million.

Senior Associate of Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm Roman Blazhko conducted on October 19 the Second Educational Seminar “New Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine and Taxpayers” at the American Chamber of Commerce (ACC).

In his report, Roman Blazhko addressed the most important novelties of the Criminal Procedural Code which is due to take effect on November 19, 2012: absence of the criminal case initiation stage, emergence of a new participant in the proceeding – an investigating judge, exclusive right vested in advocates to conduct defence in criminal proceedings, no return of cases for additional investigation, procecutor’s right to study defence lawyer’s materials which the latter intends to use in court.

“The adoption of the new Criminal Procedural Code is a successful continuation of the “reform” initiated by the Tax Code and aimed at curbing taxpayers’ right to challenge the legality of criminal proceedings brought against them”, said Roman Blazhko. “The Tax Code has prohibited issuing tax assessments to taxpayers upon initiation of a criminal proceeding – until the end of a court hearing in the criminal case. As a result, taxpayers have lost the possibility of using administrative court decisions to cancel tax assessments as evidence of wrongful initiation of a criminal proceeding. The new Criminal Procedural Code” finalised the deal by eliminating the criminal case institution stage altogether.

Roman Blazhko is the author of more than 50 publications about taxation. He actively cooperates with the tax committees of the ACC and the European Business Association (EBA) and is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA).

The UBRD’s assets amounted to UAH 147.495 million in the first quarter of 2012. In addition to a banking license, the UBRD has a written authorization from the National Bank of Ukraine to carry out certain foreign exchange and securities transactions. The Bank also has three Licenses granted by the State Securities and Stock Market Commission to engage in professional activities on the stock market – securities trading: brokerage activities, underwriting and dealing activities.

On September 13-16, 2012, at the Livadia Palace, Yalta, more than 200 leaders from politics, business and society representing more than 20 countries discussed major global challenges and their impact on Europe, Ukraine and the world. The meeting included the speeches by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych; the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan; the 66th U.S. Secretary of State (2005-2009), National Security Advisor to the President of the United States (2001-2005) Dr. Condoleezza Rice; the Vice Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Arkadiy Dvorkovych.

The forum’s discussions were focused on the future of the global economy. Special attention was given to the role of innovation and leadership in transforming the economy and society. Other topics of discussion included the future of the European Union, energy issues and the internal and external challenges facing Ukraine.
